I did that mainly because I am using tape on the back and didn't want the tape touching the chips directly. The second reason was what you mentioned, it looks great!
If you have the chip inserts for the frame, then maybe you don't want to use airtites. The size of the chip insert should determine if you can or can't use airtites I would imagine.
