AN AMAZING PURCHASE!

The carousel in and of itself is no big deal. The chips are nice! But, the plain white chips have all been dated over the time the family owned the carousel with important dates or just the dates that the family played poker. The earliest one I have found so far is the top one from 1927. The one at the bottom reads, just in case:

"jan 12-45

Bob home for a 4 day visit on his way to San Francisco. He has been assigned & will go aboard a D.E. (destroyer escort?) in the pacific, not expected home for 1 & 1/2 years (Oct 1946) Bob does not expect to get out of the navy for at least 3 yrs or 1948---We shall see."

I almost feel like I am invading someone's privacy. I have no idea who owned the carosuel before Chris and I bought it! sad I will never sell this one!
