Re: Paul Cummins Roaring 20's History

Hiya Ron, I've got these three chips. Looked them up in past issues of Saito's Chip Chat but there isn't much history to go with these guys. Issued to a ritzy restaurant in Beverly Hills in the '50's is about all Doug is giving us on these. Apparently there were rumours of back-room gaming but don't know if anyone can say that is how these chips were used. Their striking good looks certainly make them desirable chips even without a substantiated gaming attribution. Anyone got more??? grin Cummings got picked, according to Saito, to establish a food court for the Seattle World's Fair and some chips were issued to use as discounts at some barn called the Doric in Seattle.

Doric chips? Haven't a clue what's out there, got this one at one of Jim Foresman's PNW trade seesions in Bothell, WA. from Pete Lowell. Pretty cool.

Chip Chat auctions of Beverly Hills Roaring 20's chips show an inlaid mustard half as well as a grey $25 and a black $100 chip. Never, ever seen much are a handsome hotstamp series in the same mold that would command prices reflecting scarcity and beauty.

Nifty matchbook scored on eBay from the collection of Mark Englebretson. Worst thing about these great looking chips is trying to find them after awhile, Uh, were they filed under "Paul" or "Cummings" or perhaps "Roaring 20's" or uh... vbg
