California collectors, Zieglers, info please...

Below are two messages posted by a collector on ChipTalk ("whataboutj"). He is asking about some Ziegler's chips, Matty chips and Western Pool Club chips that he got as a single lot on eBay last year. He posted two, 'in search of information' posts there, both of which are reposted here by permission. (Note, the first post was made before scans were available and the second post included scans, so some information is repeated.)

I am trying to track down information on Zieglers card room & the poker chips they used. Last Sept. I bought a fairly large lot of them off ebay. I have been kinda "Sitting" on them since then. I just got them out of hibernation last night and have now renewed my interest in getting info. Anyone have any insight into this card room? From what I understand it was a small card room in Califonia. I will get pics/scans of the various chips i have an post them when i get home tonight. The majority of the chips are Paulson Hat&Cane chips. They are definitely used chips in various conditions. They all came in what looks likwe original chip boxes. I have a box of TRK Large crown chips with "Mattys card room" on them that came in the lot too.
Thanks in advance for the info
J

Most of the boxes they came in say "C. J. Lisk Co" and have an address and phone number from LV
The black/pink $1's and the red/green $5's are mostly in bad shape. I tried to pull a sample from each that would show up well on a scan. They were mostly worn to point where the foil from the hot stamp was gone but you could see the imprint on some for the denom.
The black/yellow $20 chips are much better condition (see pic below)
The non denom chips vary in condition I picked a couple that would scan well
I included the "Matty" $1 chips that came in the lot too
There were "Western Pool Club" chips (I guess you could call them chips - they are probably more like tokens
There were also the edge spot starburst chips that you he seen pics of on CT included in this lot
Let me know your thoughts on the chips

First the best chips in the lot (of the Zieglers) the $20

The $5 - not in great shape as mentioned

The $1 - these are in bad shape too - the $1 hot stamp is basically non exsistent on most of the chip. I didn't have time to look through them all

Non Denoms

This one is supposed to be Mauve w/ white spots but the scanner killed the colors

The "Matty" large crown chips

The "western Pool club"

Jim Follis is adding: I provided Ziegler value information based on Eastman's guide. Are those values valid today and what are values for the Matty chips? Anyone familiar with Western Pool Club? "whataboutj" is also in search of information about the card rooms.

Thank you,

Jim
