Re: wanted Info About Club La Rue, Las Vegas wanted

As best as I can remember from the notes I have (without physically trying to recall the correspondence,) the LaRue was a small but very elegant casino next to to the Sands Hotel. Ladies wore gowns and the gentlemen wore tuxes (or at least suits.) After it closed (circa 1951) the sands purchased the property, converted it a parking lot for the patrons of the Sands and then later expanded the sands encompassing the original property where the LaRue once stood.

I don't ever remember reading the reasons for the closure of the LaRue or have I ever been there. My first trip to Las Vegas was in 1955--approximately 4 years after it closed.

If anyone wishes to refute this message, that's fine with me as I cannot back up any of my statements without digging deep into past correspondence which I no desire to do.

I don't recall the owners of the casino but have heard rumors to the effect that the original LaRue casino was located in Emeryville, Ca. before it opened up in Las Vegas.
