You never know where you're going to run into "roadside art" in Nevada. I was looking through some of our old pictures and found pics of 'car art' in Goldfield a few years ago. They decorated a bunch of old cars and vans... had an old VW beetle mounted on top of a van, another car seems to have a boat on top of it...??

Then there was the shoe tree on highway 62 (actually in CA, I think). This poor ol' tree on the side of the road had hundreds of shoes hanging from its branches ! The first time we saw it was in October of 2001, and there were several flags and red/white/blue streamers hanging along with the shoes. We've also seen a beer case and an orange construction cone hanging in the tree! Last time we saw it, there was a fence around it and the poor thing was looking pretty decrepid , but still had shoes hanging from it, and lots more on the ground around the trunk. As I said when I told you about Christmas tree pass...kind of sad, but unique!
