Removing plastic will not give you the same thing

The unused brass cores have never been machined; when you remove plastic from a finished chip, what you have is a piece of brass with smooth, machined edges, made that way in the final stages of manufacture.

I have several of the original brass cores and all have "as cast" surfaces on the edges and a ridge where the dies met at the center. They are a special kind of casino collectible, more like RobertE's display of a "deconstructed" clay chip to show how it was made.
