Rio D's Gets Card-Room License

"The Washington State Gambling Commission has issued a one-year traditional card room license to Rio D's, a Caribbean-style card room located in the lounge of Albertini's Steakhouse on East Sprague Avenue.

Poker chips began clicking there last week, at three of the card room's five new blackjack tables.

But the gaming now taking place at Rio D's - all customer-banked - is simply a segue into a bigger goal. By fall, Rio D's is expected to become the Valley's third house-banked casino, competing with the nearby Players and Spectators, and Aces Sports Bar and Casino.

And, competing with its customers for what it hopes will be higher profits."

The steakhouse went bankrupt shortly thereafter.
