Re-visiting "American Cruises, Inc."; Fantasy?...

Several months ago the subject of American Cruises, Inc., "S.S. Savannah Sun" fanatsy chips came up here.

The chips, which appear on the ccgtcc Fakes, Fantasy and Counterfeits webpage and in the Smith/Long "Cruise Ships and their Casino Chips" guide, seem to exist in three denominations ($5, $25 and $100) and were made by Paul-Son in a Hat/Cane mold. The chips have a starburts logo in the background that also appears on the token.

When last discussed, I mentioned that I had an associated slot machine token, but I couldn't find it. Well, in going through some items I came across the token and present it here, along with some additional info I found in several Google searches.

Looking at the token, it appears in good condition, but it has obviously seen some slot machine play. The token does not have a mint mark and the edge is fully reeded.

I could be wrong, but I know of no other "fantasy" chips that also have a corresponding "fantasy" token. Is anyone else familiar with such a case?

As for my Google searching, there is very little out there with "American Cruises, Inc." as the criteria, and all "S.S. Savannah Sun" hits come back to chip collecting message boards.

In searching for American Cruises, Inc., I find a PO Box (1888) in Tunica, MS. An SEC filing by NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines) where American Cruises, Inc., and sevearal variations of Star Cruises are listed as part of the financial backers. In this instance, all of the references to the variations of "Star Cruises" and American Cruises, Inc., showed them to be contacted at:

c/o 24th Floor
Wisma Genting
Jalan Sultan Ismail
50250 Kuala Lumpur
Attn: Gerald Lim Ewe Keng

There is also a US Federal Court filing that lists American Cruises, Inc. vs. Beckley Engineering Company, Inc. It also included these names:

C. Beckham
Joe L. Moiren
Barbara Lyons

And this case number: CV 89-753-BH.

Of course the implication here is not all that significant, as it would just redefine "fantasy" to chips undelivered or that the casino did not open.
