I understand what the club officials are doing. My objection is what they are doing would be illegal in almost any jurisdiction in the U.S. (I am not saying it is illegal for a private club to do this, just that you couldn't do it in a state or municipal election.) I don't know what the law is in the U.K., but here you would have to give both sides an equal opportunity to present their views, and it would be done separately and not printed right on the ballot as it is on the associate member ballot.
