Not An Unusual selloff
In Response To: Unusual selloff ??? ()

I don’t see this as an unusual sell off. If I’m correct the membership has grown as rapid over the past 18 months as it ever has. Along with the high number of new members, I think that a decent number of the newer group have some extra spendable income, maybe much more then in the past. You combine this with some sellers who are willing to sell chips to fellow members at a decent price, you see a lot of activity. No where do I see this selling / buying being driven strictly by the hobby. Kenny made a decision to buy an item that he wanted. He also made a decision to sell here on the board. The results show what happens when a seller offers items at a very fair price.

In fear of leaving a seller out , I’ll not start naming the other good deal sellers or not so good deal sellers. I will say that there have been many good deals (for me) over the past 8 months that have come off the board. The good deal sellers know who they are, just by looking at the number of sales, and the same can be said for the not such a good deal sellers.

I know I look forward to looking to see what is for sale on a daily basis, and if Kenny is close to being done, I’m going to be looking for a new fix.

Being able to ask questions and get answers from members has made it easier on the newer members. I’ve been lucky where if I’ had a question, David Sprig, and others have shown a willingness to help.

Don’t panic, enjoy the good times, while they last. If you see a good deal and want it, buy it. Like any other collectable hobby that has been around for a while that has both high-end items and low-end items that have established pricing over time, the value will remain. It may move a little up or down, based on the economy and a few big finds. As long as one remembers, this is more like old sports cards and not like Beanie Babies, your $$$$ spent should be safe over the long run. If you’re looking to buy today and sell next month for a big profit, you may be in the wrong place. You could bring your good deals to the CHICAGOLAND CHIPPERS MEETING ON APRIL 22ND, as they should be a few spare $$$$ floating around there.

My 2 cents
