to answer those questions.

What makes you think the dovetail chips were made using different molds.
I think they were made by inserting semi circular (with dovetails) pieces of hardened steel into the cups etc.

Tougher then the Prototypes
Im aware of about the same number of both.
THE GAMBLER was out when I got my Borlands
There were less made than many of the other values
NEVADA mold pie chips
