The Silver Slipper story continues...

Today, I almost passed out in a restaraunt.

I have an Uncle. He collects lots of things. His main passion is tokens, specifically Canadian, more specifically Alberta. He has been collecting for over 40 years, if not longer.

He has been a great help to my collection. He is retired and goies to lots of flea markets and garage sales and has been feeding me chips for the past couple of years.

Today, he was in town for a coin show and he said that we needed to sit down and look at something. Little did I know...

He gave me (only to look at, I discovered) his collection of "gaming tokens" or as he now refers to them as "chips and stuff". Over the years, he has come across various "tokens" and hid them away. Only recently did he put them in binders to look at.

I opened the binder to the first page and almost died. There on the first page were chips from the Silver Slipper in Edmonton. The only problem was that they were not like the ones we have all seen (and had issues with) but were jetons.

I speculate that these were the opriginal chips/jetons used at the Silver Slipper in Edmonton. There has been discussion regarding the gap between the records David Spragg has and the opening of the casino. These, I believe explain the gap. Some of the jetons he has are cancelled, some are not. What I think happened is that they ordered these used them until the others came on the scene and then what they had was cancelled or destroyed.

These have not made it into Mike's Guide, but soon will.

I gave hm a jab and said when he was finsihed with these, I wanted first dibs on buying them. His response: That's already taken care of. So many mixed emotions!!!!

I thought I would post them here for everyone to see and to get some feedback on whether or not my theroy holds any water.

Enjoy!
