You are correct in that they are not "clay" because as you state, even Paulsons are not "clay". But they do appear to be a similar material to what Paulson clays are made from, and they are definitely not plastic but will wear with use like one would expect from clays. In fact I bet they have some sort of compression molding process like Paulsons too.
