Re: John: Are you saying the club...

Michael:

Presntly, the posted do's and do not's in related to 3rd party encapsulate items states that members may dispaly / offer in the club auctions SOME casino related items and that other items are not likewise permited.

As stated, this is in effect, discrimination of some dues paying members in good standing.

The convention is still several months away, and hoepfully, these two restrictions will be changed before the convention comes to pass.

I was asked (and declined) to be a part of the classs action law suite which is currently under way. While I support the goals, I do NOT support the means because in the end, regardless of which side may win or losse, both sides will be worse off for the effort. Needless time and funds will be spent (i.e. club members dues spent to defend the current club postion).

However, I have been notifed that if the suite proceeds as planed that I may be called to testify as well as both certain club members and present/pass elected officers and members of the board of directors that support(ed) this decision.

I have no objection to those who do not wish to have in there own collection such items, but in the final analsys, and action that restricts some members from having the same rights and privaleges of other members is, in my mind, not right and should not be tolorated by this or any other organization that bills itself as "educational". It would be a shame should the club loose its tax free status as a result and we will all loose in the end should this come to pass.

Members are currently allowed to buy, sell and trade these items during the club sponsered events, and as such, these same members should also be afforded the right and privalege of being able to have these items in the members area display and/or offer these items in auction.

If you do not want to view these items, nor bid on them, fine by me.

I neither have any of these items, nor doubt that I ever will, and as such, will neither be trying to display or have offered in auction, any such items.

But there is a (small) group of disgrunted past and current members who feel that at this juncture, that there only recourse to resolve this on going matter is to take this course of action.

Please feel free to contact me directly for additonal information.

I have made this same offer repeatly both here as well as on the club board, and most (but in particular one individual) has choosen NOT to take advantage of this offer.

I can neither control his actions nor the actions of this group and am merely passing along information which I feel is of importance to those members who care about how the club is run.

John
