...how about 3 possible answers:
a) I was looking at her trying to figure out exactly what drugs she was on. (it was something...but still don't know what exactly)
b) I was doing everything I could NOT to look at your cigar...feelings of inadequacy and all.

c) I wasn't looking at anything in particular; just trying to figure out why I was still able to stand on my own
