That happened here in the Wichita, Kansas area back in about 1984. Police and sheriff's office were out patrolling with Kansas National Guardsmen in "Deuce and a half" trucks. It was the same drill as where you are at; they catch you out driving, they arrest you, impound your car, and they save you by taking you to nice, warm jail cell.
