February 11, 2007

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY---SOON!

Hello,

This is ONENEVADADOLLAR’S 30th notice of items for sale on EBAY.

As always, thank you to the WATCHERS, the BIDDERS and of course the BUYERS!

On Sunday, February 11, 2007 between 2:00 PM and 2:45 PM PST --- 142 items went up on eBay! The start times were staggered! This is a SEVEN-day listing!

I am listing a whole bunch of chips:

NEVADA (NEW & OLD), north & south, a couple of really nice chips, Some CALIFORNIA, some INDIAN, some RIVERBOAT, some LOUISIANA, some MISSISSIPPI, some WASHINGTON, some OREGON, some MONTANA, some ATLANTIC CITY, some PUERTO RICO, some CRUISE SHIP, some UNLICENSED CHAIN MOLDS, some COLORADO! A gorgeous CREST & SEAL from NEW YORK, NEW YORK!

AND:

Some really nice DICE, (RIVIERA, DUNES & LANDMARK).

AND

Some great individual MATCHBOOK COVERS, two PHENOMENAL COVERS from the GOLDEN NUGGET w/PAINTED MATCHES and a JOE W BROWN matchbook with matches too! An interesting collection of four covers from California too!

AND

MORE unusual DISPLAYS of SINGLE CARDS from multiple DECKS from several casinos, A great SELECTION OF SINGLE CARDS FROM Deadwood & Colorado too!

AND

Some DECKS of cards including THREE unopened and unused DI decks

AND

Some really nice POSTCARDS (MGM, SHOWBOAT, MAXIXIM, etc)

AND

Some ASHTRAYS (DI, CAESARS, NEVADA CLUB-NEVADA LODGE and HARRY GORDONS SPORTSBOOK! And I will never use a pink background for clear ashtrays again!

AND

Some great TOKENS; Prima-Donna, Hacienda, Sands, DI, etc. A couple of really NICE ones!

AND

For the THIRD time I am selling a quantity OF chips at fixed auction!

We are selling a quantity of:

CANNERY $1 CHIP
FOUR QUEENS POKER CLASSIC 2003
LAS VEGAS CLUB $ CHIP
MGM GRAND $1 CHIP
PLAZA CASINO $1 CHIP
SAHARA RENO $1 CHIP (3 CHIPS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE IN THIS ONE!)

My reasoning goes like this, I have a quantity of each, I have priced them very fairly and I believe there are any number of BUYERS who would welcome a lower price without the hassle of competitive bidding!
SO FAR THIS HAS BEEN MET WITH QUITE A BIT OF APPROVAL!

AND LASTLY

TRIAL DICE

A new collectible (?) MAYBE – PROBABLY, and definitely MOST interesting to the casino memorabilia collector for sure. These are not CULLS or REJECTS. These are not ERROR dice. They have not been:

“PIN PRICKED” ala Langworthy!
“VOID” ala Bud Jones
SILVER X’d ala Paul-son

These are TRIAL DICE.

They have been used to test impressions. They are used repeatedly as different casino dice come up to be tested. They are used several times and then they are meant to be TOSSED. These and a goodly number of others were not. Dice collectors SHOULD have these in their collections. Each DIE is unique as they were used to TEST until they could not be used anymore!

I have consulted with what I consider to be two of the most knowledgeable folk in the casino collectable world!

To quote from one of them, “These “TRIAL DICE” are consistent with dies being used by the manufacturer for test impressions. They stamp one side and make adjustments to center the text better, adjust the temperatures, or whatever. Rather than waste another DIE, they stamp another side to double check their adjustments. Once, they get going, and make a genuine mistake, that DIE gets tossed into a bin to be used for test impressions the next time they change dies. That’s why you see odd mixtures of mistakes and repeated impressions.”

From another knowledgeable source:

The “TRIAL DICE” are very similar to the “FLOOR SWEEPERS” of chipping where the chip manufacturer uses the same chip repeatedly until the chip impression, stamp thickness and alignment are correct. They use the chips repeatedly until they are full of different impressions.”

When looking at one of these DIE in my eBay sales, REMEMBER, you are looking at only one DIE and the only one there is of it!

Thanks,

Christine & Sheldon Smith
