Interesting! Peru is a small town, right by a great state park named Starved Rock. No big towns around it really. I wonder if it was a Hotel/gaming type thing?

It's a least 1.5 hrs from Chicago and 1 hour from Peoria. I'm sure those times would have been longer in the 40's without the current interstate highways.

I'll have to keep my eyes open in the antique shops next time I go to Starved Rock.
