Yes it is an Osborne.

I understand why you would query it, so would I.

But, as Im not sure all 'new info' is reflected in my article, it has to be an Osborne for the following reason.

The chip has square edges and a polished center.
People have debated for years whether edge and coin variations were the results of different finishing processes etc. I disbelieved all that.

Finally (and Gene did post this himself sometime last year) Gene got to talk to the person that actually made all these coin chips. Yes, it was a manual process.
The square edges (and in fact change in compound - which is absolutely obvious if you have genuine and counterfeit side by side) and polished centers came about when new machinery and processes were introduced. It was a deliberate change. The change happened very shortly before Carl Osborne's chips were made and AFTER all the casino's of which he had chips re-manufactured had closed.

Bill Ludlow, a casino executive from the original Castaways that someone here kindly put me in touch with (was it you?? grin ) sent me a set of the 'closing issues' in a case also, as they were given out to VIP's on the closing day. The chips in that case are in fact the ones I have scanned in the article as 'genuine'.

There is other proof that I have the chips correctly described, but that is no longer necessary in view of the info Gene acquired since I wrote the article.
