Brenda and I went through similar emotions some time ago when we had to deal with putting down our dying "Buddy" ... and we still have the loving memories of our pet that was a big part of our family that only another dog lover would understand and appreciate.

We've since gotten another Sheltie, "Sparky", and while we've grown attached to him dearly, he's not the same as the pet that we had to put down five years ago.

No more dogs for us after Sparky ... it's very hard to get over the deep loss and wonderful memories of a devoted family friend who gave us so much unconditional love and expected nothing in return.
