I just happen to have a bookmark placed in chapter 10 of The Green Felt Jungle! First part of the chapter is about Binion and it truely is quite a story. I can certainly see a whole book just on that period. From an interview in the book of "a recently retired police captain" by the authors:

Q. Can you give us some insight to Binion's M.O.?

A. His M.O. was always the same. Kill 'em dead and they won't give you no more trouble.

Still haven't finished re-reading the book and Chapter 10, got sidetracked by Jessup's Cincinnati Kid and presently halfway through Herbert O. Yardley's Education Of A Poker Player.
