... crimping down the points of the staple with pliers so that the sometimes exposed slightly raised points do not scratch through the mylar resulting in damaging another chip in a similar cardboard holder when sliding 2x2's in and out of the storage box they are housed in... especially if used for uncirculated tokens.

There is nothing more ugly on a gaming token than a big scratch across the face.

Also, I would suggest if using adhesive labels to seal closed your 2x2 holders that you use labels that are large enough to cover the entire top opening of the 2x2 instead of two small tabs such as in Mark's illustration.
