The corporation to which Charles referred was Howard Hughes' group, Summa Corporation. The purchase price was said to be about $11 million. By all accounts there was an employee revolt after Summa took over, and many of the long-time Harolds Club employees left within a year.

I saw Harolds only from the late '70s on. I would have loved to have been there during its heyday.
