"Real" E-Bay Alert

Tonight I went to sign on to Ebay, and everytime I tried I was told my sign-in was invalid. I have a splint on my left hand right now and I thought I may be hitting other characters.

I typed slowly...no...same error.

So I checked my email, cuz I know I didn't change my password or anything...

In my email I find a header with this:

TKO NOTICE: A28 eBay Password Reset - badger1602 Follow Instructions Immediately!!

-------------------------------------------------

Now being the savvy person I am I read through the letter. Nowhere does it ask me click through. It actually tells me to change my email password, then, proceed to ebay.

I Followed the instructions for resetting my password, as that's what was compromised.

This was a real message, and not a spoof. When I regained control of my Ebay, the warnings I got in email were in my Ebay Messages.

I Don't know how anybody got access to my passwords/account as I have a Firewall. I was stupid in using the same password for Ebay for many years.

I changed my Ebay/PayPal/Bidnapper passwords all tonight. I have a 14 character password now...that should take the hackers a while to figure out!

This was kind of scary...when I got the email, all I could image was tons of stuf bidded on by me, that I didn't bid on.

Luckily, somehow Ebay noticed the compromise, and shut my account down before anything could happen.

I guess I was lucky that Ebay noticed it before anybody could exploit it!
