Re: Why the redemption??
In Response To: Why the redemption?? ()

Because once the redemption period ends the previously issued chips and tokens will no longer be honored at the casino and as a result the casino gets to keep any outstanding money from those chips and tokens free and clear.

Now here in New Jersey that's not the case, all chips and tokens are valid for life, Now when a casino changes ownership the new casino has to honor the old chips and tokens as was the case when the Golden Nugget was purchased by Bally's and that's what will happen when Pinnacle opens their new casino they will be required to take the old Sands Chips but only at the casino cage and not on the tables. Now in the case of a casino permanently closing and no new casino takes it's place (i.e. Atlantis and Playboy) the chips can be redeemed through a special fund that was set up by the State of New Jersey through the Casino Control Commission.
