A question for the Chip Talk members

I have noticed a recent influx of posters who have come from the Chip Talk site. Welcome to you all. I have a question born of pure ignorance. When you collect sets for home play, is it critical to the value that you have denominations in perfect sets of 100, or 50 or whatever? The reason I ask is that I collect chips from underground poker clubs, particularly 21st century NY metro area clubs. I once saw an ebay auction for a set of chipco chips from a ny club called the River. The chips came in 4 denominations, if I remember correctly, and said "Soho" or "Soho, NY" or something like that at the bottom. I asked the seller if he would sell any individually, but be said no. I wrote the winning bidder, but did not get a response. Do any of you know of any sets that came from closed NY metro area poker clubs? And, if so, is it possible the owners would be willing to part with a small number?

It never hurts to ask! grin
