NCR: Anybody Need a Job??

We interrupt your Sunday morning chipping for an unabashed advertisement for my hometown... vbg

If anyone is thinking of relocating for work, you might want to consider Hobbs, New Mexico. Our local newspaper is filled with classified advertisements looking for people.

Hobbs is located in the middle of the Permian Basin oil field and the petroleum industry is going strong as you might guess by your gasoline costs. When oil is high it is more economically feasible to re-work older oil wells that might otherwise be shut-in. So there are jobs in the field as well as in oil company offices that need to be filled.

Louisiana Enrichment Services has just broken ground on a $1.5 billion uranium enrichment plant near Eunice, New Mexico which is about half an hour south of Hobbs. The project will create hundreds of jobs during the construction, which will take several years, and a few hundred permanent jobs too.

There are several other projects that will bring workers to the area over the next few years and one thing Hobbs is lacking is the housing for them. So, a number of housing projects are beginning which will call for construction labor, which is in short supply.

The jobs available aren't all for physical laborers though. There are all sorts of jobs available. If you're seriously interested, send me an e-mail and I'll look through the classifieds for you.
