NCR Banknote of the Day....

Tonight’s selection comes from the French Overseas Territory of New Caledonia located in the South Pacific. New Caledonia is a small archipelago of 25 islands about 750 miles east of Australia.

The note is a 1951 issue 20 Franc it features a young male at left, a flute player at right on the front and back is a fruit bowl and a woman. It is an Australian printed note with no security thread but has a man’s head in profile as watermark.

This is a good example of very colorful graphics on notes printed in this era. This type of note was seen across the Caribbean, Central Africa, and the South Pacific (Oceana) from around the 1930’s until later 1960’s. These are some of my personal favorites.

This note is in Very Fine condition and carries a $10.00 book value. (This Note) is obsolete and has no exchange value. It is now part of the French Pacific Territories including Polynesia, New Caledonia, and New Hebrides and uses the CFP (Central Pacific Franc). ENJOY
