Anyone know why $1000 is also referred to as a dime? I hear "a half dime" used for $500 and a "dime" used for $1000 all the time in poker.

When Lyle Berman plays in the big game at Bellagio he brings a set of chips the players use to track money between themselves. They are all yellow oversized chips with pictures of the different players on them. They are worth "100 dimes". The biggest Bellagio chips are $25,000 and they aren't big enough to keep up with the game at times when it is in full swing.
