NCR-Helldorado #3
In Response To: NCR-Helldorado #2 ()

AS times changed, as Las Vegas changed, as the original settlers passed away, interest in the Helldorado Celebration diminished. Finally, in the 1990's (1994 or 1995, I think), they stopped holding the celebration.

In 2005, for the Centennial Celebration, Helldorado Days were revived, though much scaled back. We were fortunate enough to be in town at the time. A very small Helldorado Village was built off of Fremont Street. This old Stagecoach was there.

They invited virtually anyone to sign up and march in the parade, and there were hundreds of entries. It was HOT that day, so we only lasted about 2 1/2 hours. I think we heard later that the parade lasted over 4 hours.
Here's the stagecoach again, this time in the parade.

This is the Desert Love Buggy. We saw it at the State Museum a few years ago. It's a 1911 Sears model "K" Horseless Carriage. It was in the 1939 Helldorado parade, and I think in every one after that.

We were disappointed that there was very little participation, in the parade, from the casinos. The Barbary Coast did send Big Elvis

I can't read the sign on this Caddy, but I seem to remember someone from the Chipboard saying his mom would be in the parade in a pink Caddy with Elvis...??
