"The Meadows hotel was destroyed by fire early this morning, causing a complete loss of the building, which contained the kitchen serving the hotel and casino. Because the wind was blowing away from the casino, it was saved. The 17 occupants of the hotel were able to save most belongings. Frank Cornero, one of the owners, said the management would continue to operate the casino and that meals would be served in the dining room as usual through installation of emergency equipment."
