Casino Card Deck & Reno Show

Guess I ought to get on the stick and get my rooms nailed down for Mundings Reno show August 25 & 26. Jim's got some nice rates at the Sands Regency for the show but I got some nights coming my way here and there around town.

Scored this deck off eBay a while back, must have been the last days of the Nevada Club. Ace of spades is standard and all the face cards are identical. Reno has built a nifty bowling center at the edge of the downtown casino district which hosts some pretty big events, I gather. Rolled into town on the way home from the Big Show this year and found the town sold out for a bowling dealie...well, I had a room dontcha know. grin

Reno sets themselves up for a lot of things and then goes small town on the actual administration of logistics etc. Turn off I-80 to head for the garage at Fitzgerald's and groan, Virginia St. is closed AGAIN! Used to be because they were burying the train, then last year, I caught the final parade of HAN, and this year they had a Mayberry-like 4th of July hoedown/fleacircus/all-you-can-eat-pet-on-a-stick thing going right where the Smiths used to have their store. Luckily, I've been detoured all over the U.S. and Canada so's that wasn't too hard for me to handle. Let's see...east past Lake where the New China Club used to be, uhh, through the parking lot at John Asquaga's joint, back up Center past the Palace Club, hit the air horn and scatter the pedestrians in the driveway and take my ticket and park my car 40 minutes and 22 miles later. Hoping in August that the chip show will be the biggest thing in town and that they probably won't block the street for THAT! grin

I see looking at my comp packages that the weekend of Street Vibrations (Sept. 21-24) is "unavailable". Remember the pretty gal that was dealing me 21 that time and her anticipation of all that black leather and hot chrome. She was just a'wiggling. There had to be some tired bikers when that was all over!

So, anyway, I'm hoping to be in town the 23rd through the 27th. It's a pretty good show, you ought to go!
