NCR Banknote of the Day....

I was in the pool listening to Dick Bartly broadcasting from Disney World in Florida and my mind wondered of to the Caribbean and the Antilles. So, tonight’s selection comes from the Martinique prior to using a common currency for all the French Antilles. Martinique is located in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies between Dominica and St. Lucia. Christopher Columbus discovered it on June 15, 1502; it is the birthplace of Napoleons Empress Josephine and was the site of the eruption of Mt. Pelee in 1902 that claimed over 40,000 lives.

The note is a 1947 issue 50 Franc featuring Belain d’Esnambuc at left and a sailing ship at right. The back features a native woman and unusual designs. It is a French printed note and carried a book value of $30.00 in VF condition. There is no exchange value on this note. ENJOY
