in the club's history, but it was a very contentious period of time. I had just joined the around the time that this was happening and it wasn't fun, especially for someone new to this hobby. At least two board members resigned during this episode...but they did so for what they believed. One thing to note about all of this is that Gene Trimble whole-heartedly believed (believes) that the slabbing issue is one that, in his opinion, will destroy the hobby and he made his opinions known. Maybe Gene was the unofficial spokesman for the "anti-slab" movement...whatever the case, he fought tooth & nail for what he (and the other "Slab-Free" members) believed. If there was opposition to the "Slab-Free" movement, you would have never had known...no one really spoke out for slabbing. I don't believe that the lack of opposition was because of intimidation, but more because of the lack of conviction or support for those that maybe did support slabbing. In my opinion, if Gene was all by himself on the "anti-slabbing" side, he would have been just as vocal because he truly believes that "slabbing" will damage the hobby he enjoys.

I have no desire to get involved in this squabble between yourself and others on this board, I just think that it is very important that you and all of the newer members get a better understanding of what was going on at the time and some background as to why Mr. Rosenblum's comments were made.
