I'm not sure what a mars light is. Is it on the front or back? Let me know, and I'll try to catch a glimpse if I see the train tomorrow. I'm not too into trains, but it's hard not to be impressed with the older ones.

Here's another picture. I'm don't know what the workers are doing here, but they did it when they stopped on the way up, and on the way back from Wisconsin Dells. I am sure you have some idea. (They did it on both sides.)
