All of the tournaments below will air on ESPN on Tuesdays in October, after the main event has aired. At first they had said that only the Horse & Main Event would be on . I'm glad to see that they changed their minds.

ESPN has a number of constraints:

1. The WSOP Main Event Final Table has to air by September 26 so that it
doesn't conflict with either baseball playoffs or the November sweeps, when
poker gets trampled in the TV ratings by the competition. ESPN got a bit greedy
by airing the 2005 Main Event Final Table on November 15. The result? 25%
year-to-year rating decline compared to 2004, when the 2004 Main Event Final
Table aired on September 14.

2. 8 hours of WSOP Circuit events were already produced and were "in the can"
by the end of January, with 2 more hours contracted to be produced in New
Orleans. Those 8 hours of circuit events, plus 2 hours of New Orleans, have to
air.

3. ESPN's new video rights deal (through 2010) with Harrah's pretty much forced
ESPN to maintain 32 hours of WSOP coverage (excluding the TOC) in 2006, as it
did in 2005. Cutting back to 22-24 hours, as was discussed at one time, was no
longer an option for ESPN once Harrah's found out about that idea in January.

ESPN's decision to air the 10 2006 bracelet events AFTER the 2006 main event
should be a one-time occurrence, as Harrah's has agreed to move the 2007 WSOP
back to the April-May time frame so that ESPN can air 32 hours of 2007 WSOP on
Tuesdays in June-September, with the 2007 main event final table airing in
September 2007 to conclude coverage
