NCR Banknote of the Day....

Today’s note comes from the western side of the island of Hispañola in the Caribbean Sea. The Republic of Haiti is between Jamaica, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Francois Duvalier known to his people as “Papa Doc” because he practiced Voodoo medicine and later succeeded by his son Jean-Claude Duvalier known as “Baby Doc” ruled Haiti. They were compared to Idi Amin of Uganda and Saddam Hussein of Iraq for the terror they inflicted on their people.

The note shown today is a 2001 Bicentennial 20 Gourdes celebrating 200 years of their constitution. The scan does not do this note justice as the ‘brown’ strip on the right is actually a brilliant gold foil and the ovals above ‘Vignt Gourdes’ are also gold foil. There is a security thread running off-center and the back features the open Constitution Book. Under UV light Palm trees and the number 20 can be seen fluorescing. This note in UNC condition only carries a $4.00 value, but it is a beautiful note for the value. ENJOY!

20 Haitian Gourde = 0.53895 US Dollar
20 US Dollar (USD) = 742.180 Haitian Gourde (HTG)
