You are incorrect. No where does it infer that by grading a chip and putting it in a protective case you become a slabber. That is ridiculous and flawed logic.

Again, where does it say anything about grading whatsoever in the pledge, whether numerical or textual. That has nothing to do with it and you are arguing a point that doesn't exist.

You know the pledge, it is as follows.

I will NOT buy any slabbed chip.

I will NOT have any slabbed chip in my collection.

I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who sells slabbed chips.

I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who grades chips for a slabbing service.

I will NOT do business of any kind with any dealer who participates in any way in the slabbing of chips.

Pretty simple and straightforward to me. I think what you must be picking on is the definition of a slabbed chip. Well, I know what one is and I believe the people that took the pledge know what one is also. If you substitute "airplane" for slabs in the above, you'd know what it meant, wouldn't you? No need to define airplane for everyone right?

I will be glad to help anyone who asks, determine what a slabbed chip is. I think it is pretty easy to distinguish. I admit, you could probably sidestep this way some and that way some and come up with something that not everyone agrees is a slab, but GENERALLY, we all know what one is.

In my mind, a slab consists of a chip and a grade sealed together in a container that can't be tampered with without it being easily noticeable. It makes no difference to me who does it or whether they charged for the service or not, although generally one would find that it was done by a company for profit. That, to me is a slab.
