Re: "Meet me in Las Vegas"
In Response To: Re: Westerner chip find ()

Starring Cyd Charisse and Dan Dailey.

Dan is a happy-go-lucky type of rancher who goes to Las Vegas...once a year, I think. (It's been awhile since I've watched the movie). He goes to the craps table and, as he's getting ready to shoot the dice, grabs any woman nearby and kisses her "for luck". grin

Cyd Charisse is a haughty-type prima ballerina who adheres to a strict schedule. Until Dan Dailey grabs her and kisses her for luck! Then he wins...so he grabs her again, and wins again, and again, and...!

He decides that "Bunny" is his lucky charm. She thinks that's ridiculous. They go to her suite, and try the slot machine that's there...and win. They go to different casinos and try different games...and win at every one.

Lotsa' musical numbers sprinkled throughout, and dancing. Cracks me up how the old movies have people spontaneously break into a song, and everyone around spontaneously breaks into a perfectly choreographed dance routine! grin

Of course they fall in love, and decide to get married. Then their luck changes. They realize it's because she isn't happy at the thought of retiring from dancing. They work out a compromise...part of the year they'll live at his ranch, part of the year they'll tour with the ballet...and they live happily ever after.

I don't remember what casino the movie was filmed at (Flamingo, maybe?), or whether it was a ficticious casino. Not the best of the old Vegas movies, but not the worst. I just might have to watch it again. grin
