David Spragg: I didn't hear no bell

No bell, round not finished, I'm afraid.

Re: David Spragg

You stated:

During the first auction several people emailed you to ask what the reserve was. I was one of them. You have different stories to different people. We know. We spoke to each other at the time. Why tell one person that you "accidentally added a zero" when within two minutes you told me the reserve amount and did not mention anything about an error on your part?

If indeed you did make a mistake the first time, then did you make the same mistake the second time? I guess you must have done, otherwise both my and Jerry's bids would have broken the reserve.

My response:

1. When you or anyone else emails me in regard to a reserve in an attempt to seek a bidding edge over other potential bidders, then expect exactly what you got. That goes for both you and Jerry.

2. Wrong, neither one of your bids would have broken the reserve. The chips were not priced below wholesale. Not to mention, that you had no intentions of paying even wholesale to begin with. The fact is, you wanted a large amount of chips for next to nothing, a free website, along with the rest of the items at no cost to you. Same goes for you Jerry, who refers to me as a whiner, along with your $4000 high bid that was never reached.

Here are the facts:

I reserve the right to a reserve auction, at my expense, with the right to privacy. I do this to protect myself from bidders such as you. But it never fails, because people like yourself and Jerry will totally ignore an individual’s paid rights, emailing them asking to be “put in the know” as to what the reserve is. That, in my opinion, is very disrespectful. Anyone with a half a brain and 2 cents worth of class would shy away from this type of practice, but not you. Why not you? Because of greed, that's why. Your retail chip prices, on your own website, indicate this. Your only concern, in this case, was to lowball me out of my inventory, for the purpose of stocking yours - to be sold at much higher prices of course. You could care less that I am a fellow collector, who of which I might add, from your own admission, has been at this much longer than you. Am I bragging? No, but it is the truth. Why don't I brag - Mr. Spragg? Because nothing bothers me more than an individual who arrogantly thinks he or she knows it all. Are you aware of these types of individuals? The type that never shuts up, who interjects with their opinions before you're able to finish a sentence, who rudely insult others for their lack of knowledge, etc? Enough said..

Here is a brief breakdown of Nevada coin center chips extracted from your website, with your own prices. You don't stock every chip included in my auction, but certainly enough to substantiate my claims. I have used your own pricing system times [x] the amount of each chip to establish a total dollar amount. So according to what you stock, and the total number of each of the chips I was offering, the amount would be $4681.94 for 776chips. That doesn’t include the remaining 174 chips still left to price. By the way, included among the 776 are the lowest book value chips that you continued to rant about, being able to pick up directly from those casinos. This, also, does not include the business card chip, website, (3) domain addresses, (3) months editing assistance, free web hosting until 04/07, heavy duty storage case, rare photo, money clips, and belt buckle. That junk as well, along with 174 chips has yet to be priced and included into the $4681.94. – A dollar amount neither you or Jerry were willing to bid.

Instead, you took the liberty of taking pot shots at me on the board, in nearly every post hinting of the subject. Off the board, behind the scenes, is another subject in itself. Isn’t it Mr. Spragg? So please, anyone with an ounce of integrity who may have received discouraging comments in regard to my auction, think twice about what you may have heard. Things aren’t always the way they appear. But you Mr. Spragg, appear to be exactly the way you appear! In fact you remind me of a guy who once gave me blackjack lessons at the Las Vegas Hilton many years ago. You know the guy, the one sitting next to you, who won’t shut up, attempting to advise you on how to play each hand. Yes that guy! I remember him well, particularly this one. Who when I discovered was working in tandem with the dealer, I broke his big ugly nose. Just before I drug the dealer across the table, snatching his pretty gold Swiss watch from his arm, smashing it all to pieces on the floor. They were attempting to cheat me, out of serious money. $200k to be exact, and shame on me because I’ve never been one to squander it foolishly. Look it up in the Vegas news archives, neither one of them ever worked in the industry again. So why am I telling you this? Because I think “you” need to know that I am not the kind of person that will sit back and be taken advantage of. Furthermore I will not stand for verbal railroading abuse, so when you dish it out, expect the same in return.

The money from that auction, I had planned on earmarking, was to be given to my youngest daughter as she went off to medical school. We’re not talking a lot of dough here, but as an added going away gift those were my plans. Instead I’ll just deposit what I feel they are worth into her school account, and keep the damn chips. What started off to be a fun thing, turned out to be disappointing. I’m just sad that it had to include fellow collectors.

Jerry, I am not even going to respond to your post. Because if you haven’t gotten it by now, you ain’t never gonna get it.

My regards to everyone,

Sam
