... that the American Idol program would air at a different time on the West Coast. I'm sure that other nationwide events such as the Kentucky Derby, Oscar presentations, Championship fights, baseball games, etc. are broadcast simultaneously to both coasts.

If American Idol is seen on the East Coast at 9 p.m. ... why would it not be broadcast to the West Coast at 6 p.m.? A reasonable assumption?
