Re: Diamond Jo - Worth County

Some questions:
I was trying to decide if this is a land based casino, the picture on the web site looks like it is, and John K. description did not mention a lake or river, or a River Boat ?
I called the casino and they said it is a "River Boat". They explained that the basement as they called it is full of water and the "casino" floats on the water thus a "River Boat". I had heard of this idea but this is the first I have heard of an actual casino that uses it.
Has anyone heard of this idea being used any place else ?
Jim

John K. reported: Iffy at best
Jim:
The question was asked at the casino and they stated that there were 6 inches of water underneath the casino. However, if would be rather hard to prove one way or the other.
There was water around the water wheel near the front entrance, but with the amount of construction right behind the casino, one wonders why you would want to keep water in your basement unless you are trying to grow fish?
The closest 'natural' water that we could find nearby would have to be in the drainage ditches, but then only after a good rain!
John

Again I ask has anyone heard of this type of construction to "make" a River Boat" on dry land being used in any other casino ?
Jim
