Diamond Jo - Worth County (Long Post - Large Scan)

As advertised here on the chip board, I made my way down to the recently opened Diamond Jo casino located in Worth County Iowa Wed (as opposed to the orginally advertised Tueday trip).

If location is the key to realstate, it must be doubley so for casinos. Located right across the boarder from Minnesota, diretcly off the interstate, this place is hard NOT to find. The water tower shown on the chips front's the interstate indicating which exit you should take. As with most states, there is a welcome center normally at the first exit after crossing the state boarder and such is the case here as well.

The casino was constructed right behind this welcome center along with a trucker friendly gas station and a Burger King as well.

While the casino is rather on the 'msall size', construction is continuing.

The casino is done in a farming motif, as evidence from the corn door handles on the outside doors and pictures of barnyard animals in the resturarnt - sorry no buffet.

There is a Starbucks and a Burger King in the casino along with a bar. A poker rounds out the accomindations as does a rather small gift shop that backs the club card desk so that the people working there can service both areas at the same time.

Three different level of cards are avaialble with the red card being the lowest (sorry - no extras of these).

Two craps tables, one roulette wheel and 10 card tables with about 500 or so slots (all TITO - no tokens).

No Grand opening chips
No Limited Edition chips
No $2.50 chips

The poker manager indicated that, for now at least, they would use roulette chips for poker tournamnets. Presently, the poker room is using the same chips as the table games.

The cainos is located about 100 miles south of the ring interstate road looping around the twin cities of Minnapolis / St Paul and billboard signs start appearing as soon as you swing onto IH-35. No Doubt that the location was partly picked to pull from Minnesota where there is NO craps, No roulette, limied to non-existant liquor, and certainly not as nicely attired waitresses!

Now, for what I brought back that is avaialble for sale:

50c chips = $1.50
$1.00 chips = $2.50
$5.00 chips = $7.50
Dice $2.00 (two sets avaialbe)

All items postpaid.
