Good morning Tom; Sorry that I am unable to understand your instructions... but maybe I was not clear with describing my Canon 35 Lide scanner
problem.

All I'm looking for is a white background(instead of gray ... see attached)on my original preview scan of coins or casino chips prior to using any
image enhancing software.

If the 3D objects are too thick, they will allow light into the scan bed. Light when scanned will appear dark or even black (if enough light is allowed in). The scanner is no designed to scan such objects. For better results, you can try turning off the lights or any other ways you can think of to not allow light into the scanner when you scan.
