Dick's description is correct for a true reeded edge, as on a coin. The Hyatt's re-order metal-core chips however, are not reeded edge. The grooving runs around the circumference of the edge, not perpendicular to it as on coins. I would call it a grooved edge, not a reeded edge. The pic below shows it best. Top is the original brass core, bottom is the grooved edge, which incidently is considerably lighter in weight.
