As to Vegas rental cars, I'm wondering if some of the surcharges and/or taxes can be avoided if you rent a car from the lobby of a casino instead of at the airport. Shuttle to the hotel, then rent a car. ...and LAS isn't the worst place I'm finding for surcharges and taxes on car rentals. I'll be flying into Kansas City in about three weeks. The taxes and fees imposed by the local and state jurisdictions are more than the rental charges. Alamo is charging me $48.04 for a 4 day rental. Kansas City is charging me $56.24 for the privilege. When you are at the mercy of people who are more than willing to approve or vote for taxes that they don't have to pay the more you'll see this kind of stuff.
