I was a ChipTalk member long before finding out about this site and actually found CC>CC and the ChipBoard as a result of contacts made at CT. So, for me it has really worked out well.

As to whether it's just a marketplace, no it's not. It's much more than that. There is a lot of buying/selling/trading going on there to be sure, but there is also a great deal of ongoing discussion about all things chip/casino/poker/cards related.

I think the biggest difference that I've noted is that the bulk of the membership there is not in the 'collector' category. There are a few of us, to be sure. But, the majority are interested in the latest hot quality chipsets available for their home games and tourneys. They also devote a great deal of discussion and time to creating customized artwork and chips in addition to organizing group buys of custom/fantasy chips.
