ID, info? Denver Basin Petroleum Club

Anyone know about this chip and Club?:

You can have one for $8, by the way.

It is listed with no info in Hertel's web site. I found a phone number and article about the Denver Petroleum Club, but no "Basin" in the name. They don't answer their phone, but I'll continue to try.

This is the story I found in the Web:

"Petroleum Club turns 50

The Denver Petroleum Club also is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Strictly a petroleum-related club for most of its life, the club changed its name and membership requirements in 1996 to attract individuals and businesses from other industries.

Called Top of the Rockies, Home of The Denver Petroleum Club because of its breathtaking mountain view, it is situated on the 37th and 38th floors of the Qwest Tower building at 17th and Glenarm streets.

The reason for the name change? "To send out a message that the club was open to all types of businesses," said Laura Stevens, assistant manager of the club. "It's a meeting place for business and social functions."

With more than 825 members, the nonprofit club is the largest one of its kind in the oil patch.

The idea for a Denver Petroleum Club was conceived at a Christmas party thrown by Bill and Maury Goodin of Petroleum Information Corp. in 1946. Two years later, the club officially opened in the Albany Hotel at 17th Street and Broadway.

It moved in 1957 to the top three floors of the Petroleum Club Building at 16th and Broadway, but after it outgrew that space, it moved again to its present location in 1978.

As part of its anniversary celebration, the club will host a bash Oct. 23 for past and present members. The entrance fee: the current price of a barrel of oil, which has ranged between $13.50 and $15 this year. A swing band has been hired and the guest list should read like a who's who in the Denver oil patch."
