Im finally home after 8 days of working and training out of town. I hate being away from my family so its nice to be back! I went chip hunting for a day in Daytona on my way to Orlando and hit just about every antique shop i could find. No chips at all I did find two old decks of Kem cards in nice condition though. I even unsucsesfully attempted to find a C&S chip from the BPOE in Daytona for Rich. The best thing i found was information. There was an antique dealer who told me about an illegal club on the Daytona peir. I have seen postcards of the peir in Daytona from the 20s that said "peir casino". The antique dealer advised me that she was freinds with a girl whos family owned the building on the peir. She told me that she and her friend were in the attic of the building in the late 80's or early 90's. She said when they were in the attic that she saw several gambling tables. She told me she saw roulette, craps,and black jack tables. She said she did not see chips but was not looking for any. The antique dealer advised that her girlfriends grandfather built the peir and that there was gaming there in the 20's. She advised the grandfathers last name was Herrero. I was told gambling stoped due to prohibition. She told me that the owner of the building now is Teresa Doan. I will be in Daytona again in early April to help Voulusia County S.O. during black college reunion. When im there im going to try to weasel my way up into that attic and see what i can find. I found another antique dealer who told me she recently collected all of the casino and poker chips she has got over the last 25 years and was getting ready to sort though them and put em on ebay. She told me she has several that she has got from estate sales over the years. She advised me that all of the chips were at her house and that she would email me scans to see if im intrested before listing any on ebay.
